How come digital point forum sig backlinks aren't counted?

In backlink watch and many other back link counters, DP sig backlinks aren't counted. On other forums i am on they count every sig as a backlink, from every post.

    DP backlinks aren't counted.

although if you look at the page source code it does not have a no follow tag on the sig links but i think that dp is using some kind of iframe and script to dissalow sig links from being indexed by spiders, it might even be a line in the robots.txt file, in my opinion there is no way this site could maintain a pr6 with all the spammy links on here unless they are being smart behind the html code. anyone else have anything to add to the conspiricy?

My guess is they are disabled for the very reason you are trying to use them.

DP backlinks have always counted. Your posts probably haven't been indexed yet.

how can dp maintain its pr then?

sig links are blatant self promotion, se know this, it would not surprise me if googles new algo includes "no index" for <tag><sig> google is always adding to its algo.

DP backlinks are counted. Just not all posts are indexed but you will still get some back links.

They are counted but any link from one site other than a few will not help with PR. If you are using forums to help with pagerank after you hit fifty post switch forums.

Trust me thy are counted, I've got like 600 showing for some sites, doesn't mean they really carry much weight though.

The above isn't true, if a page your link is on is indexed and there's no nofollow (or anything to stop the link counting) it will count and pass link benefit and PR. So you will benefit more from 100 DP posts with your link on than say 50, though the extra benefit isn't much.

The amount of link benefit passed is going to be very small for posts from a forum like this for several reasons.

1st DP might have a PR7 home page, but that PR is currently spread over 1.3 million indexed pages. Many of the pages have so little link juice they'll never even get to PR1 meaning most links a DP user ads are not on high PR pages (not even on pages with enough PR to be shown via the toolbar :)).

2nd DP pages have quite a lot of links from them, look at the page your on now there must be 60 links Google can index. That means any PR sent through your sig links is shared between around 60 other links. You get 1/60th of total PR sent from each page, even if you got your link on the PR7 home page if there's 60 links there (I didn't check) that means you get enough PR to make a PR5 page. That in itself should indicate to you that PR doesn't stretch very far on sites with a lot of pages.

If anyone is interested I wrote a simple formula for determining how much PR you get from a link here http://www.seo-gold.com/seo-tutorial/pagerank (under the heading PageRank Simplified). Particularly useful for webmasters who want to know if a reciprocal links deal is in their favour.

3rd Even if you manage to get a link relatively close to the home page, a few weeks later it's moved another level or two away from the home page due to archiving (new posts going above yours) and so PR wise that page your sig link is on isn't holding much link benefit long term.

All in all the link benefit/PR passed for each link is so small that you'd have to be nuts to spend your time posting on a forum like DP only for PR reasons.

I would not be surprised to find some of the long term posters with over 1,000 posts here do not gain even the equivalent of a PR4 page from their DP backlinks.

    I wouldn't do 1,000 forum posts for a PR4 page!

That's not to say there's no value in the links, if your posting to a forum like DP you'd be mad not to add a sig link or 4 :) since all links help and of course there's always click thru traffic.
