Hi, I recently joined as an SEO guy in an Indian company and thought to use my personal freelancing success on the work field as well but I found that people/clients lag knowledge and think SEO is magic and works on simple formula which is much similar to spamming according to them see what our office employees told me while report making 1) Submit one same article to 20+ article websites 2) Submitting to more then 1000 directories in 2-3 days works well 3) Even though they haven't submitted content to regional directories or classifieds they expect to see their site in google's regional search that too on top 4) Spamming forums with just the links in posts works they even write digitalpoint.com for forum link building haha that too they give links in posts just by writing visit blabla.com 5) using the same article written for article sites on hug pages and blogs sites for link building does not count as spamming for them guys please explain if all the above points made by my colleagues and clients are wrong or am I going wrong
I suggest you go back to freelancing. The company you joined does not seem a good place to work/put on your resume
Well, that's an issue faced by almost every SEO company. The simple solution is making the clients sit down and explaining to them the ill effects of spamming. What we do is, we have a contract with the client which enlists the amount of work that we will be done in the specific period of time, we offer a 50% money back guarantee if rankings aren't achieved.
Hence, your client(s) need to understand that "you're" doing the SEO and that's why they hired you. If there techniques or theories worked they wouldn't of needed you in the first place.
1) Submit one same article to 20+ article websites: From my experience, this one still works. It's not very hard to 'try'. Write one article, submit to 20 top article directories and search for the article's title. Do you see many article directories? Are there any filtered results? If you submit to 100, you might see some filtered results though. 2) Submitting to more then 1000 directories in 2-3 days works well Nothing wrong with that one either, you have to understand that directories take time in approving links. On top of that, search engines have to index (reindex) directory category pages. 3) Even though they haven't submitted content to regional directories or classifieds they expect to see their site in google's regional search that too on top Regional directories and classifieds are 'good' for regional searches but not mandatory. 4) Spamming forums with just the links in posts works they even write digitalpoint.com for forum link building haha that too they give links in posts just by writing visit blabla.com Standard practice, though most people have started using signature links. Most quality forums require you to participate for some time before one can get links. I don't think forum links are very effective though. Forum spamming is rather lame IMHO. 5) using the same article written for article sites on hug pages and blogs sites for link building does not count as spamming for them Not exactly the brightest method, more and more duplicate content is being created.
I think it is impossible to approach every project the same. Every project is different unless of course you are approaching the same field and the same demographic that you have worked on before. We find that we have to use a "well rounded" portfolio of approaches to link building, etc. We have used all of the above mentioned approaches, but we are always looking for something different and unique so that we do not leave the same footprint for every SEO campaign. I think it is difficult and takes away from your creativity if you follow the same process over and over again. Unfortunately larger SEO companies are commoditizing SEO by using a uniform approach to their search engine optimization practices.
i dont see a very bright future for this company. i wud recommend.. u go back to freelancing.. and try and score 5 companies.. that pay u decent.. hire one guy that has ur way of thinking.. and score another 5 companies.. soon enough ull have a decent company that will eat away ur competition.
Well they're not exactly wrong, but they're not exactly right either. Sounds like you should go back to freelancing or join a more experienced company.
Hello, I would say to either find a new company, or just sit the owner down and talk with him and explain that it cannot be that way or you walk. Thanks, Nick
Seems you should pull yourself there. We all know that SEO is not an exact science so we could not guarantee that one site will sit in Google#1 for a specific period of time.Nonetheless, if your company has that protocol and if it seems fine with you, go ahead and follow their rules.Just make sure you tell them clearly of the things you already know in SEO so you will in a way save yourself. If you wish to go freelancing again, I guess you will also make it big since somehow you have created your profile in this field.
Lame techniques, but some of them still work. I would rather recommend creating content for the user, then promote it using social networking sites, search engines will automatically index it and with growing back links it will rank better. P.S.: Nice thread title.
its better to create unique content and submit at 20 place and then new fresh content and so on, this will help i think
