How can you tell if you've been penalized?

As good as most of my sites did this latest pr update, unfortunately one of my sites dropped in pr 1 point. It really makes me angry, and I don't know why. Can anyone tell me how to I check with Google to see if my site has been penlized for some reason?

I have seen this happen before. Generally in amounts to different weighting factors in algorithm or some on the ones linking to you dropping in pagerank.

did you loose links? Did you change the page? If you are under penalty you would have no pr or grayed out toolbar.

Oh ok. I'm not penalized. Thats good to hear. My link popularity dropped a bit. Could that be a factor?

yep - PR is a measurement of links to you.

Also the 'boundries' for each PR can change, like exam results.

Are you saying that if you have been hit with some type of dupe penalty or other penalty that your toolbar PR will be grayed out?

you will have no pr or 0, or if the site is de-listed it will be grayed out. If you have a new page that is in the index it will be a pr0 but may not be under penalty.
