How can you tell if Google is punishing you (because of the ad-network)?

I'm confused. what does it matter if you have outbound links if PR is being determined by incoming links?

Well - I've had a couple of sites on the receiving end of the co-op for a few months. Were PR3 and PR4 now PR3 and PR4 - woo hoo. Big increase in backlinks the other day tho, but no change in PR.

I also have a couple of 'new' sites (PR0) also receiving coop links - but A LOT less weight behind them (1/10th), They just jumped up to PR5!

So who knows what the .... is going on.
    Too much weight?
    Too little weight?
    Bad luck?
Who knows... oh yeah - google knows.

Interesting info about adsense and PR tho - I'll be putting adsense on those new sites today :p

i never put much belief in "PR leaking" ... but i take care of many new sites. between this and the last PR updates, i had 5 new domains. all had either coop or other outbound links.

the only thing that is different between my sites is

    a - 1 site had a PR 6, while the others are 4 or 5.
b - this same site has no coop and no other outbound linkage.

can b be the reason for the higher PR? or maybe i got lucky and G picked me up on this round with lots of high PR pages?

unless you can be 100% sure that all the backlinks were 100% equal (same places, PR, etc) there is no way to know.

but of course you have to do what you think is best for your sites

100%...impossible, that's why threads get started. Your last statement is very true. It really comes down to the line you draw.

OPPS rec'd another bad rep point for the post above from an anonymous poster.

'why do you insist in bumping this thread up over and over?' was what they said.

Whoever you are the answer is because I am very interseted in the COOP. I did not start this thread but I have tried to contribute with worthy feedback.

So if I may now ask you, why do you care? Why is it worth giving me a bad rep point? May a heard of 1000 seaguls fly over your head... :p

I could really care less about the rep system, I don't even know how it works...it seems 50/50 some people agree some don't that's why we're here. If we all agreed what's the point of a forum.

That is truly moronic... of course, the correct answer to the anonymous question is, "Why do you insist in (sic) reading this thread over and over if it bothers you so much?".

I am not sure about this but I think I have an idea who gave me the bad rep earlier. This 'creature's message to me in the bad rep was this...
I found this elsewhere on DP today.
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=155283&postcount=20

Notice the terminology used....strikingly similar

All other good and bad points I have received were claimed. This person did not have the the balls to sign it. Oh well

Yeah... I must admit fryman was the first person that I thought of based on the sentence structure... and of course it's exactly his style and has been for some time, going back to his "Spamkiller" days on other forums...

If they are in the same room, that 5th person cares very much.

Homer - you must learn to conform to their way of thinking. Who are you to question anything about the co-op? If you don't like it leave right now - don't bother to raise any issues you have - god forbid it might actually result in an improvement to the co-op that benefits ALL its members. Didn't you know that your opinion is worthless. You have to post a lot more messages to the forum before you have the right to comment. And then when you do - make sure it's a one liner that adds nothing and benefits nobody. Got it?

Oh no - I hope I don't get a bad rep for saying that - how will I sleep at night...

Do I sense a bit of sarcasm here. :D

FYI: No matter how low I go I just can bring myself to post meaningless 1 liners. For better or worst this forum will always receive a thought out response from the likes of me. If you have to give me a bad rep for it...oh well small price to pay for a good thread ;)

Sure - not everyone. But there does seem to be a group of people here that just jump down your throat as soon as you mention anything negative about the co-op or suggest any possible improvements. The hard-core forum junkies that spend all day reading and posting here (and other places) that seem to think that unless you have posted thousands of (usually pointless) messages and have been a member of the forum since 1986, your opinion is worthless and you should just leave the co-op right now. My sarcasm was obviously directed at those people... To the other members - no offense intended :)

None taken by me. I agree with you E Doc Tong.

Wendy E DocTong is a little wired up about an attack on him when he started another similar thread. He fell victim to a Fryman onslaught. I don't blame him. I have found Fryman a little abrasive with newcomers. Which frightens most newbies away. (glad you stood up to the Giant E doc).

Ok, I won't take it personally then :)

I've tried to be helpful to newbies (although sometimes I am a bit too sarcastic), so I was being a bit sensitive. sorry.
