I am like always with questions :D

How can you make marketing research, survey and analysis without actually telling your new idea? Possible?

Especially, it's dangerous when you targeting a Business customer!!! They can use or steal your ideas.....

    Your opinion .......

There's plenty of ways to do marketing research without telling your new idea. I wrote a blog post that defines marketing research and gives practical steps on how to conduct one. Basically there's plenty of sources for research: discussion forums, interviews, technorati, 43things.com, magazines... lots of places where you can get data.

I didn't read his Blog post, but I agree with Game Producer as far as great resources to do your market research for any niche.

If you are in the business of marketing products to other marketers then you shouldn't really be using surveys as a product or service research tool unless you have a list of friends in the industry for example that you can trust wouldn't steal your idea.

The best time to utilize a survey in this case would be after you have already created your product or service (and its ready for release or already released) based on your other market research and even then one of the only real reasons I would do a survey would be to create a Buzz for it (and collect email addresses for those that revealed interest based on survey answers). I.E. they just told you they would buy it.

    Good Luck!

there's a saying that goes like this

'think 2 products ahead of your competitors'

i'm not sure bout that but i think it's logical

I don't aggree with above. If your idea is so easy to steal or copy by others, then I think it's not a good idea. And most of the market search companies are not your competitors, and for those prefessional ones, they will not disclose your idea to others. If it's a good idea, just go ahead. If you are always afraid others will steal or copy it, you will miss the chance.

I will tell you my own experience: once I invest $30K to a technique called intelligent PC power supply, but I'm not the bigger holder, so I can't make decisions on the project. You know what, the bigger holders always worried that others will steal the technique, and even will not give out samples to those who want to buy or distribute the product. So 2 years, no orders and no money back. Now the technique is useless because other PC companies developped the same product last year, and I lost $30K due to this unbelieving leader.
