How can you MAKE adsense be relevant?

Ok, I have a sports forum, called icedogfans. It's about a hockey team.

I'm getting ads for ice, for dogs, and for fans (like ceiling fans).

Is there any way in adsense to ENTER your OWN keywords and have ads based on them? Google is obviously not picking up the right words from my forum. I'd LIKE to have words like: hockey, nhl, hockey equipment, skates, etc...

    ???

Wow, that's really funny, IMO. Listen, one of the ways I found to help adsense out is through the url. Try placing your forum here: icedogfans/ice-hockey/ and see what happens. Oftentimes that is enough. Also, edit the title, the keyword meta tags and put up an opening header H1 and H2 tags with ice hockey in them. That should do it.

The URL, H1, H2 and the contents almost always determine what are the ads that will show on your site. So might consider changing your meta tags and add more contents that are centered on the ads that you want to appear on your site.

Google has a tougher time with Forum software. Take the time to look at the settings on your Forum and then make all the changes possible to help Google figure out what your forum is about.

You may also want to investigate the possibility of using Directories and Social Bookmarking sites to link into your site with specific keyword phrases to help with the relevancy.

I run a few forums and seem to get pretty targeted ads, but nowhere near as targeted as my blogs.
