I believe you are thinking of the Resource Zone.

They no longer provide status updates for sites which have been suggested.

In short the answer is no updates are provided. You have done all you can do by suggesting your site. If it is deemed listable by the editor who reviews the site, it will then get listed. When that will be, no one knows.

Therefore your best bet is to move on and forget about DMOZ.

Why do you need to know the 'progress' for:

    Its either:
    1) Not yet listed --> life goes on and there is nothing more you can do
    2) Been moved to another category for review --> life goes on and there is nothing more you can do
    3) Rejected --> life goes on and there is nothing more you can do
    4) Listed --> life goes on and there is nothing more you can do

What will you do differently if you knew the status? How will your life change if you knew the status?

It is very easy to suggest a site to DMOZ, there are links on every page, including the home page of DMOZ.

Or you can follow this link: http://www.dmoz.org/add.html

You must be doing something extremely wrong if you find it hard to submit!
    All you do is:
    1. Go to the best category for your site
    2. Use the suggest URL
    3. Move on.

    Whats hard about that?

It is ofcourse easy to suggest a site a DMOZ, it can be more difficult to decide the category, even editors have problems with that at times, but the op really means it is difficult to get listed. By that I think the op will mean that once suggested it can seem like a site has been lost. But it has not been lost, but it can take a long time to be reviewed for a possible listing. We do not exist as a directory to try and list as many sites as possible from the sites that are suggested to us, that's the way many other directories are set up, but it is not our model. We try and build categories that in the opinion of editors are useful to those who want categorised links with unique content. We build those from many resources including the suggestions pool.

Its easy to submit in ODP but you need to wait for long time. Atleast wait for 6 months.

How do you explain all those sites that get listed in less than 6 months?

Navigate Directory > Drill Down To Your Related Category > Look if There any Active Editor (If Not Then Choose Closely Related) > Suggest Your Site

And when the editor comes and reviews the site, may be from a few days to a few years, they will move it to the correct category that yu should have suggested to in the first place and it will wait again. Are you out to tell people how to get a review for their site delayed?
