if someone has a problem with you, whether it be a personal problem or if they're a competitor they may choose to clickbomb your google adsense units. I have a page which seems to be getting too many clicks ( about several clicks for every 15 - 20 impressions on average for the past few days. ) That is an estimate, and I wouldn't say which page it is, of course. Doesn't that sound too high? I wouldn't want google thinking that I have anything to do with this, because I would never click my own ads. I know that I can always take the ad unit off of the page. Does google analytics tell you which IP address visits your site? Can you access and edit the htaccess page in goDaddy?
just try not to mess with anyone online and dont show off your adsense sites to anyone either. thats the way you can keep your sites safe. even though godaddy sux big time, yes you can edit htaccess files without any issue
I got click-bombed and banned.. It sucks since you can't really do much about it and Google doesn't care at all about you. Though I have heard about certain codes and so on that prevents more than 1 click per user. But it's always bypassable with proxies if they really want to get you banned.
I think sometimes Google can detect that. One time I got a lot of clicks on one of my ads and only made like a couple dollars for like 27 clicks. And normally my site made like a couple dollars a click. However like people said I'd just recommend not pissing people offline and just play nice!
That may be what happened to me last year. After being a non-fraud publisher for about 6 years they closed my account. Anyway, here are some ideas if you think you have a problem: - Create some ads that look just like adsense. Copy some of the ads you see on your site with live links. Put these ads on your site in place of adsense if you think someone is bombing you. The bomber won't notice and won't hurt you much. You will lose some money for a while but you will keep your adsense account. You can also block the bomber, but they may just use a proxy server if they are really after you. - You can rotate the fake ads with the real ones. That way the real ads won't get as many clicks. A good PHP programmer may be able to add some code to see if the ads are showing too quickly and only show fake ads if there is too much fast clicking going on. - Check the IPs that visit your site and block the ranges that are clicking. you can also use PHP to show them the fake ads you made in the first suggestion and show everyone else your real ads. This is White Hat cloaking...! - If you can find out who is bombing you, go to their site, pull THEIR pub code, and put Their ads on YOUR site where they are clicking on them. - Contact Google. TELL THEM what you know about the situation. Ask them what is the best thing to so about this. I would only do this as a last resort, but being honest may be one option that will help save your account.
- Start by setting up limits and wait till the offender gets tired of waiting to get online to click bomb you? - Work on SEO, so that you don't have to rely on PPC to get traffic
