Google Analytics is not designed to track sales, it is designed to track your overall traffic, trends, etc...
maybe you should check into your ecart and see how advanced the reporting system, or setup
some type of addon that is designed to track sales from your carts point of view....
or do it the manual way, ever heard of excel? Enter some inputs, now you are tracking your sales....

Google Analytics can track and report the sales of a product. You need to set up eCommerce tracking in Google Analytics and then view Goals>eCommerce Tracking>>Product Performance Report. You can see sales and performance (how many visits for a sale/averagae time spent on product page etc.) for your products, product categories and even SKUs using Google Analytics.

We have sites in Drupal and Wordpress and have installed the required eCommerce tracking modules and plugins to view this functionality.

You will have to set up eCommerce tracking. Wordpress and Drupal (on which I have worked) have plugins and modules that capture the require sales data (like SKU, product URL, price, quantity etc) from your checkout page and track the conversion. When you change the status of eCommerce tracking in Google Analytics (and make it - yes, it is an eCommerce site), this tracking will show you --- what are called the Product Performance reports.

that will tell you everything about how the sale happened including from where the visitor came and what they clicked before buying. It will also tell you the cumulative sales.
