Long tail is targeting searches for longer keyword phrases - for instance rather than being found for STOCK MARKET - where competition is very high - you would make a page called "yoursite"/stock-market-analysis-florida/ (where the search placement is not so tough an you could be ranked higher and therefore found more easily) - then in the description, page title and headline work in your exact long tail keyword phrase and make sure your exact long tail keyword phrase is used on the page a few times. First at the beginning of the page text - then middle and near the end. Search engines like to see the specific keyword phrase a few times on page. Also use your exact keyword phrase at the bottom of page in a link back to the page itself as well as to your home page and any subpage your "long tail" page is linked from.
