    hey there,

been thinking about this for a while...jeff did dropping.ca a few years ago to help improve .ca.

for .co.uk, it's always been popular among the Brits since long ago...for the germans, .de remains the first choice and you see .de domains selling for big bucks. however, when it comes to .us, many americans are still reluctant to use .us for the company domains.

good .us domais are sold for peanuts and many domainers let them expire in fear for not being to sell them in the future. many fear that .us is bad for SEO, some say there's 0 type in traffic...

can we not do something to improve this extension?

It's up to the search engines. I don't see any preference in the USA with .us extensions. Ever since the internet went commercial, .com became something like the unofficial extension of the US. It was kind of dumb to bother creating a .us extension since there's no such site as Google.us, Yahoo.us or Bing.us...or even an Amazon.us or eBay.us, like many other countries have - we all use the .com sites here...it kind of makes .us a mute point.
