I submitted my online articles directory web site in dmoz around 3 month back and i posted in the correct category and sub category and until now my site has not been listed what could be the reason.
Look at the categories(look at the bottom for Last updated: ....). You will see that most of them are not being updated since 2009. there is nobody, or even if somebody but no activity since many months or years. If the category is not updated for long period, it is meaningless to submit a site in ODP.
But it is pointless to submit to any other, the site will simply be moved to the correct one and it might wait from a few days to a few years to get that move, so what do you think you gain? Apart from that, you nor I nor anyone else can know when an editor will volunteer to edit any category, so it might be tomorrow.
Please stop making people fool. Be honest. I have honor to ODP. But do not mislead people about ODP. Why years??? Why???? While the ODP Guidelines are strict to Edit a category once in 3 months, otherwise the Editor's account will be disabled, then where is the question of years? Instead of being busy, kindly look at the categories. I wonder you people do not have time to edit & update the categories, but have enough time to busy and have fun with decade old sentence(about ODP, which are known to all) posting in forums.
Why do you keep saying that? Its misleading if not an outright lie! The add page people are supposed to read before submitting it clearly states that submitting to the wrong category means that the submission could be removed... not MOVED. Here, maybe this will help... I'll make the text large and bold it so ya can maybe read it a bit easier... Sites submitted to inappropriate or unrelated categories may be rejected or removed. And you say I am the one that is misleading people here. *sigh*
LOL man.... I think what anon is trying to say, that he is outstanding guy and he will "move", in spite of rules, site to right category. fastreplies
Well, now that would be understatement. Everything DMOZ is doing more than just a contradiction. To understand why, you should read this http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1769908 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=86989&p=15402039#post15402039 fastreplies
Who says anything about hating? You can't hate victims. I feel sorry for some nice people who have volunteered their time to follow rules that don't make any common sense placed in there by bunch of idiots in AOL head office who are totally isolated from day to day reality of undergoing changes of Internet and who're continue living in the past. I don't hate Jim or anon just because they have no choice but to repeat what stupid rule says, but I despise their unwillingness to do something to change these rules. Never hate the messenger. fastreplies
Yes. I too. That is why I am telling Jim and others: Keep DMOZ as it was, but not as it is. The fact is that AOL is not gaining any business profit from DMOZ, so they are just misleading the people.
Absolutely right, but with the wrong twist. Sites that can be listed are moved but if the site is not listable it is removed and rejected.
Removed! What do you mean by Remove? If it was not listable(according to DMOZ policy) then how it got listed to get removed? Each and every point of you are contradicting your own saying.
If you understood anything or read the posts carefully enough you would have known that this concerns sites being added to the suggestions pool. If they are added to the suggestions pool and are not listable they are removed from the pool and deleted because if we did not do that they would just stay there and that really does not help anyone, does it now?. Simple. But do tell me where I contradicted myself.
Go to your RZ forum and find my post. You people listed a business site in Tourism category. When I pointed that it was removed from list but with excuse that at the time of listing the site content was different, while I personally I know about that site & their business and even the webmaster too from their very beginning ... even before it got listed.
Then why does it say NOTHING of the sort? Is this another cause of the ODP using a completely and totally different set of definitions of the English language? Could you please break it down on how that works from this statement? Sites submitted to inappropriate or unrelated categories may be rejected or removed. Because when most people read it, I assume they see the same thing I am talking about... as that is exactly what it says. What you are saying is completely and totally different then what is there... so please break it down for the masses. And I'm not just saying what 'should be done' I'm talking about what it actually says will be done. If it's wrong it should be changed... if it's right, then you are talking out your backside.
