How can somebody get first page in Google with forum link?

Hello and excuse me if this thread was discused before. My main question is how can somebody can get first page in Google only with forum link in signature. One of my competitors on one of my key words is placed by Google on first page by having 2000 forum post (link ) from a forum that is not even related to that niche. Just to be clear. The niche is very competitive.

How is this posible. Forum posting is that good. If i will post 2000 comment on a forum do i get the same efect?

i dont think thats really possible for a competitive keyword.

they must have got backlinks from other sources you are not aware of, or may have really good content in the niche.

I agree with webcosmo, either the niche you're looking at isn't nearly as competitive as you think it is or you don't know where all of their backlinks are coming from, remember, siteexplorer doesn't show you all of the backlinks, it's just a guide, you can't just mix and match info from different search engines and expect it to apply to them all.

The niche is competitive. Make a google search for school games. And you are going to find BBC , Kaboose other good sites. And one site is on first page just because of forum links. Please give me some advices. Do you think is not a competitive niche? It`s a game niche, how good his content be.

I can't find which site is on the first page because of forum links, which one is it? Also, just because there are a lot of monthly searches does not mean the niche is competitive, the top result only has 2500 backlinks, in my mind, that's not too tough.

I'm using siteexplorer and it shows about 1,000 backlinks and it does look like most of them are from www.boomers.us, which is strange because that site only has 600 backlinks most of which are from lifeaftertheoilcrash.net, I really can't explain, maybe it's just the Google dance, has that site been ranking high for long?

Do you know what else they are doing outside of having 2000 forum posts with their link? You seem to be assuming that's all they are doing.

Do not rely on a tool for checking the links, use your brain.
Actually there are two forums .us and .biz , several blogs like johnathanlocke.wordpress. com
and links from homepages like educationalgamereviews. com. So its a mixture of different links, when forum links are not necessary the strongest, even if there are in large quantities.

If it really is a competitive link then this isn't possible. The other backlinks couldn't possibly be reported. Many of these tools use Yahoo or Google link: commands which only report a handful of the total links available. Even Google Webmaster Tools gives you a small sample of every link available and that's when you have an account set up directly for that site. The only way to know for sure is to create your own bot to index every page on the Internet and identify every link yourself.

I thinnk with enought forum links you can get on the first page from google easily. I think forum links especially out of posts are seen as natural. I mean where else should somebody without a website post a link?

It's not a good practice to follow only 1 strategy: like forum postings. Better to choose 2-3 strategies like: article postings, directory submissions, facebook & twitter etc..

It is possible to get to 1st page with only forum signature, but that will be for a short period of time, if links come from a big forums, pages will get very fast deindexed by google, or marked "old" and their link will dissapear, so... just a metter of time, i've seen sites being on 1st page for like a month, then... banished

It's hard to argue. A well-balanced approach is bound to trigger less scrutiny from the search algo.
