Hi, the links you sent are Yahoo Search Results.. Can you us know what your site is and what keywords you are targetting? Cheers
Have you read up on SEO at all? It is a pretty broad question. Do some reading and come back with more specific answers...
What tools are all of you using to check how your competition has achieved their ranking? Personally I use SEOelite but I'm sure there are others...
Spend money on advertising and links. There are a lot of free ways to get traffic and PR but with $$$ you get there quicker.
Since the poster talks about Yahoo as well, I assume s/he is referring to SERPs rather than PR, therefore links and $$ are going to do bugger all.
you can do it by getting some links from well trafficed and good PR pages.. try to get some oneway links. though google updats are slower in respect of yahoo and msn
the keyword 'free advertising forums' has a competition of 165,000,000 which is huge! The first site in SERPs has PR5 and has 105 backlinks showing on Google. You need to be doing equal to this site in terms of PR, backlinks etc, if not better, to be able to rank high for this search term.
No and no. You guys are missing the point. Backlinks are definitely important with regard to PR, but PR is only a factor when it comes to SERPs. You need to carefully optimise your onpage content for your chosen keywords in order to outrank your competition. Then you need to consider the age of your site and finally, your PR.
Links are by far and away the largest factor in terms of search engine ranking. It's completely possible to gaet a page to rank in Google without even having the term on the page. Hawk, do a little reading up on the allinanchor:keyword query That's not to say on-page SEO won't help, so do some reading up on that. Your main focus should be getting links from similar sites that use your keywords in the anchor text though.
I don't disagree that they are very important - there is no doubt about that. What I am saying is that IMO people are putting way too much stock in PR these days to the detriment of good content and on-page optimisation. I have edited my original post to take out the word 'small' because I concede that it was misleading.
Actually "free advertising forums" as a three word phrase appears about just 1000 times in google which means that competition isn't that great. Now first of all check your site: Start here Now here is the snippet that I see: Doesn't look good. Maybe add a meta description? Title: Why add the powered by? it's useless, also if you are targetting Free advertising forum you may want to put that first. Add a welcome paragraph Start with the basics and then start worrying about links (it's cheaper that way)
Everything is important, links, content, template structure, etc.. If you keep these factors in mind when creating your site you’ll have a better chance of doing well on SERPs
First it takes time for google to rank u up despite u having worked hard . To impress google u need to have links from high PR pages . If u are serious abt it , make good links for ur site
Get more and more backlinks from the quality sites. Just check the keyword for which you are targetting, and the backlinks of the competitor sites. You should be always ahead over your competitor sites in terms of the back links both in number and quality.
