You can check here for some useful resources to get edu and gov backlinks. Use them wisely and don't spam.

.EDU sites are great because most of the time they are trusted/high authority/old domains that carry extra weight as compared to your mom's blog about lipstick.

A lot of .edu sites now have their own blog, and some even allow others to be guest authors so might as well look for those. You can leave comments to their post or make a post of your own. Just don't get carried away and forget to leave a link. :)

I'll show you a trick instead.

    Use yahoo and type www..edu

you can also add "blog" to it so youll directly get the .edu blog results.

    note: two periods after www

To get links from .gov sites are very rare and difficult. But as i have done LB for Edu Project, Do manual search of high PR edu sites, If you are looking PR 3 exactly in back, then you have to give links back for them too.

Welcome to the internet world zehar, my name is openmindz and feel free to ask me any questions you may have, publicly or privately.

I typically don't chance it with the .gov websites (don't want to tick-off any gov. officials -- who knows), but I highly recommend edu links for their authority and link juice passed onto your site. You just have to remember to take time to read the post and leave a "meaningful and relevant" comment that contributes to the thread.

I get my .edu backlinks from http://www.edublogfinder.com because the results are highly relevant.

Perhaps searching for college forums would be a way to gain .edu links other than that having an up to date informative website will help create link bait and if your lucky from .gov and .edu links.

Actually that just pulls up school and college sites.

To add in the blog, try using this method in the form in either google or yahoo:

    www..edu inurl:blog
