First of all I struggled to find a place fitting exactly what I was looking for and I decided on the marketing section because ultimately I'm trying to get more known but it might be a bit more general than this section. For the past 5 years I've been practicing beatboxing and I have become very proficient at it. I've had a lot of fun at school and what not with this, along with the multiple gigs I've had, but I never have a site to shout out or anything, and I'm frequently asked the same questions like " How did you learn that bla bla bla". Truth be told, I started thanks to the website www.humanbeatbox.com. That site is pretty big but you see that the admins are mainly from UK and whatnot. Where beatboxing is really big, compared to Canada anyways. Anyhow, that website is pretty much the only dedicated "Learn-to beatbox" website. I was thinking I could start my own website, uploading quality tutorials to youtube and redirecting to my website for traffic and whatnot. I keep hearing find a good niche and everything and I'm just wondering if you guys think there's enough interest for something like that. The investment costs wouldn't be too big since I already have sound equipment. I'd need a quality camera and green screen room (which I could make cheaply). Along with paying someone for a custom website layout, etc. I'm more afraid from a time standpoint. It would take a whole lot of time to start up and then I don't have that much knowledge on monetization and whatnot. I imagine if I had some decent traffic I could do something but meh. On a side note, I speak fluent french ( I live in montreal, Canada) and beatboxing is HUGE in france, so I could potentially tap into that. Sorry if this is the wrong place.
First of all I'd ask what was your goal? If you just want a popular website that doesn't make any money it will be a lot of work with no reward. If you do want it to make money (which is what I'd hope) than you need to study SEO strategies and work on getting publicity in the beatboxing circles. Also, social networking sites will help you a ton like myspace and facebook. Set up a fan page and tell all your friends to invite all their friends. I also suggest you create beatboxing study courses that people can buy. Study what your fellow beatboxers are buying now and how much they are paying. This will give you a great idea as to what kind of product to create. You can put the course online or sell cd's/dvd's and workbooks. I suggest doing both for maximum income. Hope that helps. That's a pretty unique talent. You might think about creating videos for youtube and monetizing with cpa offers. Just a thought.
