I have been submitting my site to various directories, and even paying for some inclusions in the hopes of getting better page rank and saturation in the engines. Then I was warned by a colleague about some sites not passing the page rank. YIKES! How can I tell if a site passes page rank with a link?
Make sure the link is a "static" link and doesn't go thru a click-tracking script. Make sure the link doesn't have the rel="nofollow" attribute Make sure Googlebot is not dissallowed in the directory where the link is at. Check the page's meta tags, make sure they allow indexing of the page. To confirm, check Google's cache of the page and see if there is a static link to your site on it.
I am no expert, demonsnakeyes, but I believe that you can check google's cache on any page by doing the following... 1. enter the exact URL of the site you are trying to retrieve the cache of 2. Google will show you the "search results" page and will display a link of the page you requested (providing it is in their index) 3. Click on the Google's Cache link to see what this page looked like the last time the bots crawled the page. Hope that answers what you are looking for. Jason
Lots of directories and article sites wont pass on PR etc. It is best to keep on moving and find the ones that do. That way you dont have to worry about the ones that dont. And they may send you some traffic anyhow. So all is good Focus on what is working, and not what others are doing. That way you cant help but go forward. Brad
Check the source code for any of the PR tricks or the robot file that will tell you if the link is worth anything.
