I just logged into my Google Webmaster tools and saw this: Googlebot last successfully accessed your home page on Mar 13, 2008 That is almost 30 days ago!!!! Is there a way to speed this up? Or, does it really matter?
Like kelouba says - over time it reacts to finding new content on your site. If it visits and there's new content, it'll up the frequency of visits; if it visits and there isn't new content, it'll slow down the frequency. The other 'assist' is that old fave - backlinks.
They crawl you more often the higher the pagerank you have and the more inbound links you carry. And yes. If you have freshly updating content. Which is why it helps to funnel in RSS feeds
The more content and the more often your site publishes the content, the faster the bot will go to your site. If you've noticed, almost every thing posted on this website gets indexed the minute it's posted.
Hi, its true. add more content. but one more thing. some times googlebot does visit your page and it will not reflect in google webmaster tool. so web.tool will be showing a older date.
Yes, fresh content is important. I have found that when I get a bit lazy and stop putting fresh content on the site, the SE crawling seems to slow down.
That still doesnt mean that other pages on your site got the google search bot visit. Usually in webmaster tools it only means the main homepage.
it is either you put new content regularly or you keep building new backlink. That is just how google crawls your site often.
A simple way is: Create a Google Sitemap account, add your website URL, RSS feeds, then ping your blog/site everytime your add new content.
