Hello I bought a domain in GoDaddy and I tried to whois lookup it in google and I'm surprised my name and contact information are there. How can I remove it? especially my e-mail address. Thanks!
hiteshb? where can I find it under my cp in godaddy? It says there that I need to purchase the privacy thing, but man I don't want to pay for it I mean it should have been added as a feature if you buy domai nfrom them. Any other way?
Some provide free privacy tool and one of them is resellerclub. I am not using godaddy, and you might need to pay to use privacy whois guard. Godaddy charge 9$ for Privacy unless you register 5 domains in one order. http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/dbp/landing.asp
Why not set up a gmail address and use that for contact info, you can forward any messages and the spam filters will take care of a lot of spam. Or next time register at namecheap.com and get free whoisguard or at name.com and get free privacy control.
Yup I know. But my question is how? It sucks because you bought a domain to them and they will show all your private information to the public. Any other way?
Then don't use godaddy next time you register a domain, name.com has a free private whois you can switch on or off. You could always use make believe info, as long as you have a valid contact email you should be ok.
Other than using a privacy service, use another email address as others have said. And preferably a "secure" one like Hushmail. (despite what happened to Hushmail back then...)
Namecheap.com is a great reseller that has free domain privacy. When I wanted to keep my privacy with certain domains, I always go there and their domains are pretty cheap too (as their name suggests).
You can protect your privacy to enable whois protection but never do the false info. ICANN might delete your domain name, just for my 2 cents.
