I used to have a separate Hostgator account for halo-3-glitches.com, and then I redirected the site to goldfishgaming.com. A while later I decided to cancel my halo-3-glitches.com Hostgator account. Now I am setting up halo-3-glitches as an addon domain to a different Hostgator account, and it keeps redirecting to goldfishgaming.com. I checked Godaddy and it says I have not enabled domain forwarding. I have no .htaccess file and when I create one, it makes no difference. How can I remove this redirect/domain forwarding? EDIT: Just got done talking with Hostgator support and they say to wait 48 hours after changing nameservers, so I'll just have to wait.
Hi, Ask hostgator to look and make sure that the old account has been deleted. If it has ask them to look into the httpd.conf file and confirm that the virtualhost's document root is pointing to the correct folder. If that turns out to be correct make sure you double check your .htaccess file in the addon-domain's folder. This is not a DNS propagation issue as both accounts are hosted on the same server with the same IP address. I checked with curl and confirmed that the redirect is still in place and that rules out caching issues.
Just live chatted with Hostgator support again, it took forever but finally he said he fixed it. I asked what the problem was, and he just said "Wordpress". So I thanked him and closed the window. Went to load halo-3-glitches, and it won't load. Now goldfishgaming.com won't load either. So I'm live chatting with support again
Well whatever the first guy did, he made both sites stop working (halo-3-glitches and goldfishgaming) so the 2nd live chat guy told me to email and that's what I did. They better be able to fix this and if I lose everything from my goldfishgaming Wordpress blog I'm going to switch hosting companies.
Ok it turns out this was all my fault, so I apologize for making Hostgator look bad. About 45 minutes after I sent my email to , I got a response explaining my problem. I had set up a WP blog on goldfishgaming.com, and on my computer I had changed the wp-config.php file but I forgot about that. I uploaded all the WP files to my halo-3-glitches.com folder, but it was still using my goldfishgaming database so that's why it kept redirecting. So one of the guys made a change to the database and that's why both sites stopped working. But they are back up now so thanks Hostgator.
