How can I register a .ca domain without living in Canada?

I want to register a .ca domain but the restrictions say you must live in Canada to do so. So far my ideas have been - form an LLC in Canada that would own the domains or just register them and pretend to be from canada.

Anyone know of a legit way? Kind of like the registrar will act as the contact for the domain...

WTF is with this useless post?

And this one too? Didn't you read the 1st sentence that he wants to register them???

To answer your question, the company looking after .ca domains are apprently very strick on only allowing Canadians to own them & if they find out you don't fit the requirements, they'll take it off you

If the company looking after .ca names see that the whois is by someone not following the rules, they'll take it off you.

You could if you wanted to, up to you, I'm sure people do as well.

Against DP rules??? Don't you mean the company that looks after .ca rules? I'm pretty sure that entering fake whois info would be

I never even knew you had to be a Canadian resident. If you have family or friends in Canada, get them to register it for you. :)

You must have a valid Canadian address in order to register a .ca domain.

What you just said can be put next to threads where people complaining about their domains having been taken away because of inaccurate contact information they used when registering their names. If the domain(s) is/are important to you, I suggest that you find a canadian friend to handle the ownership. Or you may lose it any time.

You cannot provide fake information as they will require you to sign documents stating that you are a cdn citizen or legal resident. Further to that, they will take the domain without warning so you can always be found out.

Forming a "dummy" corporation is not that easy in canada. If you want to be federally recognized, you must conduct business in a minimum of 3 provinces. You can be provincially incorporated but again, you need a legit business, not a "dummy".

Even cdn citizens may receive notices during the duration of the active domain requesting more information on themselves and checking to see whether they are legit.

If you plan to build this site profitably, you are taking a huge risk. You would have no recourse when CIRA takes it back.
