Do they deserve to be on the first page? Without knowing what your channel is like and the keywords you are targetting it's impossible to know how you stack up on the following criteria do the video clips have merit? how competitive are the keywords? how fresh is the channel? how spammy is the existing content?
I prefer to rank long tail keywords rather then be a prime target on page 1.... not only that, page 1 that has competitive keywords can be tough..... I would rather swim with stream, not against the stream or up the waterfall... (if you can swim up a waterfall, then nobody has anything on you....) I really do not care about the worth of his videos as he did not ask for a review, he just ask how he could rank them, and to ask if they are worth ranking is not really a fair statement. I have content that I do not think is worth ranking, however, it does rank with some applied effort, it may come into lower tier ranking, but I do have better content for higher rankings....
Personally, I would try to rank my video on Youtube first..then worry about Google ( maybe Google will find you).. When I want to search for a video, I go to Youtube to search, hardly use Google, almost certain a lot of others search yhe same way.
