    You can rank your website by doing On page and Off page SEO.In On page SEO, you need to focus on keywords,content,description and meta tags while in Off page SEO,you need to focus on earning links through directory submission,social bookmarking,forum posting and blog commenting.

Do competitive analysis of the website for given keywords, on page and off-page(Get quality backlinks from blog commenting, forums, directory and profile creation) of the website. Most important this is that content of your website. If you are creating a product base website then you need to update you website in timely manner as GOOGLE love regular updated website.
