How can I put on my blog leggaly pictures of new cars?

    Well, here is the deal:
I need to put some pictures that I cannot take myself since it's about cars that are still prototypes. But there are plenty on other blogs, sites.
Can I put something like a thumbnail, or a blurred picture and hot link to the page that hosts that picture? I must also say that my traffic is pretty low (about 10 uniques per day but can increase to 50-60).
I know that I cannot just copy and paste them because that would not be legal, but is there any other legal way? (I still want a preview of the picture on my blog).
    Thanks all.

You should be able to show them all as long as you put a link down the bottom where you got them from.

According to the copyright law I cannot copy and publish even a picture without the consent of the legal owner of that picture.

I think as long as you link back, you can. :)

You are right, it happened with me before when I put some pictures in my blog with link back, after several months the owner send me email that they'll sue me and will send email to my web hosting company to close my blog if I don't remove their pictures.

So better send email to the owner to ask permission before you put copyright pictures on your site.

Usually most car manufacturers / dealers will be more than happy to give you the pictures , anything that will help them to push sales, why not try to contact some dealer ? You could probably also rent out some ad space to him ;)

I know people are going to hate me for this but here is the deal. How does the person know that that specific picture was taken from his site? I mean if it doesn't have a watermark, then I think it should be OK for you to use it. Just make sure you host it on your account and make sure that you at least change the name of the picture file.

Of course to be courteous, ask the owner first. I mean, it never hurts to ask, the worst they can do is say "no".

The issue was if I could use a thumbnail picture that redirects when clicked on to the big picture hosted on the owner's site.
