How can I promote my site with a list of 15,000 emails

I recently got a list of 15000 email IDs of football fans (my niche). I would like to know how should I go about marketing my site to these IDs.

Should I send them an e-mail regarding my site, if so, in what kind of format (example would be nice.)?

I hate SPAM and I don't recommend this.

 

you just mass mail them and tell them to visit your site
and use HTML format

I don't think this should be classified as SPAM really. They all are football lovers who are on more than 280 different forums. It took me more than 1 year to collect all these email IDs, and some of them know me on those forums but not the site etc.

Any examples would be nice vikram. I can't just send an email to all of them saying "Go to http://example.com".

 

if you are concerned about the script you want to use, you can use phplist it can be installed from cpanel fantastico good only if you want to send some messages, but it might not be able to clear the spam filter of yahoo and other email sites.
You can use aweber also

You should get a good newsletter template and write some nice content in it if you want to get most of those 15000 people to the site

True, people dont read spams. And they just clear the spams more often than reading their own emails...

 

I dont think that it is the right way of promotion

 

some times it may possible to become those valid emails as invalid also
