If i have a software that i sell, is there a way to send them just the instal link rather then the entire folder including the script, the install software and everything. People are buying my software and then re-selling it How do i stop this (is it even possible)
Add copyright codes into the softwares codes. Also, you might like to try a tracking system, their are things avaliable i believe that allow you to get the link to the site of which the software has been installed sent to your email or what not. You might want to do some looking on that.
how does that work, and does that still stop anything. I could have sworn once when i bought something, they didnt send me a folder, it just went straight to the install. How do i do this.
You can use a script protection to avoid the buyer to sell it to other people Such as using this script http://www.ioncube.com
No that won't work. Your software is protected from people getting the source already. You need a some software to protect your software. Create some code that asks for a license key and tells your server that some one installed it. Then generate a setup http://www.installsite.org/pages/en/msi/authoring.htm with some of these packages.
Give it away for free... but add a nasty, destructive virus... then sell the anti-virus to everyone who installed the free software! Just kidding of course, you should look into setting up some sort of authentication server and force the software to login and authenticate in order to work, that way you can control/monitor who is using it and how many computers are using any one key. It doesn't even have to login every time if it's not an Internet app, once a week/month is ok... the whole point is to see how many different computers/users are sharing keys, and of course you want to be able to disable a key and lock the application remotely. probably a lot of work but the only way i see you can stop the illegal use of your software.
