How can i optimize the category pages?

    I would like to optimize the title and description for every category page on my website. Is there a way to do this?

    I just set this up for one of my new blogs, and I went in and added some SEO-rich custom text to the top of each category page.

    Does anyone know if Google ranks category pages lower because it is kind of a gateway to the rest of your content that's automatically generated, not a page that you're actually updating? I couldn't find any info on that. I've seemed to notice that my category pages don't come up as much as my posts.
