    HI guys,

I need to move a forum from a server to anothers server. When I say move I mean transfer , without deleting anything .

    How can I do that?

The host where I need to remove website from, is HostBrains (dot) com .

    Please help me.

    Regards

An easy and simple way to do it without using cPanels if you cannot reach them it to download a decent FTP software and simple drag and drop all the files from one server to another, then simply query your datebase backup into the new one.

I did this recently and it was a tad trying as I wanted to preserve all data.

Make sure you back it all up, save it on a couple of gig flash sticks to, make sure the new server is compatible to your forum software. The php and MySql were different on the new server making it necessary to alter some of the forum tables, if unsure ask a pro to help you!

if you wish to do this your own,

    1. Do not change nameservers yet.
    2. Set your forum in maintainence mode
    3. Log in to your new server with given ip or host's login info for control panel or use ftp program with ip/host's name as "host name"
    4. Setup databse and install as you would.
    5. Move all files
    6. test if site is working on new server (ignore images not showings - because forums sometimes use domain.com/imagedirectory, just check functions seem to work)
    7. Change nameservers
    8. Disable maintainence mode

optional step to do in the beginning if you renting vps or dedi and/or want to setup own nameservers.
Register nameserver FIRST before doing anything.
