Ok, well I started a blog, and i make a post about why Obama should be president. I noticed traffic coming from google when people search for "reasons obama should be president". I noticed I was the 3rd result, which is good, considering my PR is 0 (new blog). I was wondering what I can do, to get to #1 for that search? I know PR plays a big part, but an update wont be till march or april. Thanks!
I have a blog that is at #2 in Google for a certain search term. The site that is #1 has a lower PR than my site. Most all of my stats are higher than the #1 spot. I have tried a few different things to move it up to #1 but it hasn't worked.
It needs to be devoted entirely to "Why Obama should be President". No NASA info, no info about Microsoft buying Yahoo, etc... Might still have time to do it, not sure how much traffic it will get though. Maybe alot.. I'd create a dedicated WPress blog and domain to it if thats what you want to do... Could take some time to rank well too! Your time restraint is a "squeeze". Personally, I'd make a Mike Huckabee site. ;-)
You could start by changing the title: Top 5 Reasons Why Obama Should be President And maybe add the phrase to "5 Many more reasons" (now it will also be in bold...). After this get a few links with the phrase...
The best way is to simply try to get some backlinks with that as the anchor text, talk to a few other bloggers (especially political blogs) and try to get them to give you a link with the keyword as the anchor.
Im wondering- if those bloggers give me sitewide backlinks (blogroll), will I get banned from a sudden influx of links? Some blogs have 10,000 pages!
First Pagerank doesn't play a role in your SE rankings. There is less than 300k results for that search term and you already rank well, it would be easy. Just as someone else said all you need to do is get some one way backlinks using the anchor text "reasons obama should be president". Article marketing, a decent press release and you would dominate for that keyword phrase.
