Yes, bigdump is good for large databases, I had used for a forum. phpmyadmin is OK for small databases .
If you have cpanel, just backup and restore everything. The main issue will be the database, you will need to modify the config.php
I even needed it for 2 tiny db's, i tried a number of times and i just couldn't get it to complete before timing out so had to go for bigdump, and it took a fraction of a second then.
I did it once. Just install the phpld directory script in the new server first, and then export the data from the 2 table only contains the links and categories, and import the data into the same 2 tables in the new server. Just export the data with the file type of .csv, it's very easy.
