How can I monetize my software that will get 100,000+ Downloads ?

How can I monetize a software that is SURELY (I hope) getting 100,000+ Downloads ??

This is a question .. I got someone working on a software that I hope will get no less than A Hundred Thousand Downloads !?

You need to have a strong server to handle those many downloads, you could add some small advertisement in the bottom, or you could make a trial version out of it and paid ones..

 

No .. I"ll make it for free so I get the 100,000 downloads

I'm thinking of uploading it to some GOOD uploading site

or upload it to my hosting ..

"Some Ad." .. where can I get the guy who will buy an ad in the software ?

Offer the basic version for free and then ask the people who have downloaded to upgrade for a small fee.

Even a 10% conversion rate should rake in the moolah.

Just dont bug them every day or so.

Build up a list. A list of 100,000 interested people will have the product gurus in a tizzy for a joint venture.

 

Put spyware and malware into your program and get $0.50 per install totalling $50,000 off 100k downloads.. Only joking, ofcourse.

 

That's pretty hard though, I wont be able to get a 100,000 List !!

There's a few options for monetizing, some that spring to mind (and some already mentioned above) are:

1. Ads (Adsense or affiliates etc) on the download page.
2. Ads within the software (difficult to get advertisers for this though)
3. Offer a free version and charge for a full version
4. Get downloaders to register, send the email with the download link to their email address, put ads in the email
5. Cross-sell if you have more than one product available, make use of the visitors and email addresses you collect
6. Create bolt-ons (or extensions) for the product etc that you can sell to the downloaders.

I'm sure there are many more ways but these may help you out.

Ok, why not put a small charge on it? I am launching software soon, so I have a bit of knowledge in this area

 

First if its good software people will download it. Try contacting popular download sites such as download.com,zdnet and such.

They might host it for free if its given away free.

If you are giving it for free mate, then post them on Warez sites, they can spread all over the web from there!
