How can i measure the value of my domain... Some say google.com is the most valuable domain. some say yahoo.com but how can i come up with that decission???
Google.com is not a valuable domain. The company and its brand makes it popular. If you register any good sounding domain then also domainers will appraise it around Reg fee to $xx. But what you deliver on it and what kind of category it comes into has a greater effect on its price. Premium domains are the dictionary words and the short ones. Brandables can be Reg Fee or Millions who knows. If google hadn't registered that domain and If today I would have regged it and asked for an appraisal then I think you would have appraised it for something near $20 to $25. The price of google.com lies in the company and the service they have provided in past years. So more and more users are going on google. To measure a value of a domain name you should take in many factors like It's TLD. If it is .com then there is no doubt here. The comes if it is short or too long. The more longer a domain the more possibility of typos and it means losing traffic. Shorter the better and can be memorized by a normal user. Who just visits cybercafe once in a week. Then comes if it is plural or singular. Some times singular version of domains are better then plurals. But there are exeptions when plurals are better then singular. EX: LatestGirl.com and LatestGirls.com Here LatestGirls.com is more valuable then LatestGirl.com Dictionary words are also valuable Bcoz If you want to search for furniture you just tyr and type in furniture.com. Right? So the furniture company desires this kind of names. So that a user might land directly on their page. Instead of their competitors. Then comes LLL.com and LLN. and NLL all the possibilies in 3 character.coms and .infos and .orgs and .nets. etc etc. Each has their own class and each has some advantages and disadvantages. There are several other kind of categories in which the domains can be classified. And If I go on writing this will continue for next 100 pages. I think the above mentioned points will help you better understand the domain name valuation. Thanks. if you have any other questions then don't hesitate to ask me. I will try my best to answer them.
