I would second that technique, only to highlight that I would also include of course include quality backlinks to your website. Just incase you are not sure what these are, these are links that are directed towards your website. The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website. Backlinks are important for SEO because some search engines, especially Google, will give more credit to websites that have a good number of quality backlinks, and consider those websites more relevant than others in their results pages for a search query.

This is feedback, rather than marketing advice: The classified ads don't appear to have a URL in them. If you want to pick up ads from online marketing people, a URL is a must. This means you'll need a new category in which to house the ads. Another marketing is SEO people. For example, right now I have clients in these categories: 2 clients in furniture, one in motor scooters, one in career advice, two in entertainment (wedding and corporate), a printing company, a contract caterer, a security company, a will writer, a web developer, a network training company, an SEO training company, and a pension provider. Each SEO guy is probably worth 10-20 regular posters in terms of populating your system with ads. But to get SEO guys you'll need to allow the ability to link directly back to a web site (i.e. with no redirecting URL). And if you can offer us the ability to create a contextual link - you'll find it even easier to pick up new ads from SEO guys because we're more likely to take a punt on a new site even though it has zero traffic at the moment. The site itself would be more SEO friendly if you also allowed the ad poster to specify the ad's own page title tag, meta description and meta keywords tag. If the ad's own page contained a better URL that would also help. With the right hosting this can be done with PHP. For example, if you look at this page: http://outplacement.careeranalysts.co.uk/index.html page, it appears to be an HTML page. In fact, it's a virtual page just like your ad pages - with content supplied from MySQL. But Apache is told to display it as index.html. All 3 pages on that site are virtual pages. If you can do this with Clicker Classifieds, you can provide SEO guys with the perfect classified ad site - and in return they'll give you content and may even send you traffic just to get you ranked.
It takes time m8 but your just going to have to do one thing at a time and work on adding to that over time. Do article submission and directory submission. For a classifieds site like your you'll need to put the links in places where people will click. And like others have said youre going to need to build up backlinks to your site so you can rank higher in SERP's obviously. Also you'll need to do as much on site SEO as possible. Ensure all your META tags are right and using the words people search for to find your site.
You need to target webmasters. Those that are looking for a way to advertise their websites. Forums are a good way to get the word out.
Write weird and interesting articles. Publish it with social bookmark program. You'll get traffic and market from those SB. Such as stumble upon, digg and reddit. Thanks
First off all genrate the backlinks of your site so that your PR can increase. 2nd try to write some original article or content with keyword related to your topics.
Add your website to quality directories. Use keyword "Free Classifieds" in Title so it will be beneficial because directory submission helps a lot for good ranking position in google.
u market your site on many forums and generate back links. Also write articles having some unique kay words and publish on different sites.
Forums are excellent places to show off your website, and my favorite of all is traffic exchanges, especially the ones where you have to manually view the websites. Pay to Click sites are also very good because others are being paid to view your site. claire
doing the linking will definitely be a lot of work for you. You might want to employ someone who does it here on Dp. I've seen some really good testimonials in this forum - guess it will raise your PR real quick and help you get more traffic.
i recommend post it to business directories because product sellers and buyers always go to classified sites and also join business forums comment on blogs where blog owner is writing reviews about products and services good luck
Make your site attractive to vistors by placing good relevant contents and some attractive offers like gifts, promotions and quizes etc
