Hi, I know coding but not marketing I have a new website called www.skoogO.com -it's a question and answer site mainly for students. Can someone give me some tips to how to market this? It's basically merge between Web 2.0 + Forum Thanks!
firstly, you can try to find some students blogs and do some link exchange with them since your market are centered around students..
Find places where students hang out on the net. Post it there. Think about it like this.. you need to let the right people know about your product. Just like the way to advertise on television. You don't see people advertising ladies underwear on cartoon channels right? Same logic here
Just get links to your website. From forums and other websites in your niche. Make the links contain your target keywords.
Your domain name doesn't seem to fit a link baiting strategy nor can it be memorized easily, other than PPC the results of your marketing campaigns will come harder than normal sites.
Along with the above suggestions - explicitly the 'linkbait'-ness of the page - I think with some work this would be prime for StumbleUpon.
thak you for ur suggestions everyone What do you mean by "prime for stumbleupon"? how do i use stumbleupon to my advantage?
chantown, you could try article marketing by writing topics that students would be interested in. Useful and leveraged method.
here are some tips for you.... 1) joined social networks like myspace , orkut, face book....so on 2) joined relevant groups to your niche ... Students , universities, education etc 3) Be active in thsese groups, make friends, give tips to people and in the same time promote your website .. 4) Ask your friends to subscribe you so every time you update your website they got message and return to your site Hope helpful to you REgards Mudassar
yes, quality inbound link building would be quite helpful! Just concentrate your efforts on sites with the content relevant to yours
I was in this position too, this past term. The best way is to create posters and post them up on bulletin boards around the school. Another is to post about it at your school's Facebook group. These are the best cost-free methods that I have used.
I have visited your site and it looks good. But in my opinion, it lacks many things. Try inserting 5 famous questions that are already answered in the first page your website. This will get some attention from your visitors. About marketing, I would recommend answering other questions in student forums and then link your answer to your website. So what you can do is to find some questions from student forums then create an imaginative student and rephrase the question. Then use your username to answer that question.
