How can I make a user's browser refresh a page cache if they only viewed the page before the last modified date?

Hi, this is my first post, so please be gentle ;)

I'm getting some problems with elements of my 'menu' page (images and flash objects) not updating in user's browsers.

Is there any way to force a cache refresh for that particular page if the user has only viewed the page before the last modified date?

I don't want the page to refresh if they already have the last modified version (i.e., I don't want a universal 'no-cache') as this will result in downloading all the images and flash objects unnecessarily.

For example, I updated the following page on July 11, 2008, 14:18

    http://listen2russian.com/menu/index.html

If a user last visited this page on July 05, 2008, then they will probably get an old version of the page due to their browser's cache.

How can I force a cache refresh in this instance?

If a user visits the page on July 15, I don't want to force a cache refresh.

If you know how to do it can you please 'dumb-down' your answer for me please as I'm not a web programmer/designer, though I do have a few clues when things are explained step-by-step.

    Thanks very much.

    Jonathon.
