I have some terms that i am ranking well in google for. I am using a wordpress blog but my question is say someone types "blue widget" a term I am ranking well for my blog is only linking them to my homepage. What i want is that when the earch the results in google will appear as www.example.com/bluewidget so they are taking to the right page than to the homepage where they have to dig deep. How can i sort this out?
You can link it to your index page (in your main page)... and anchor it... Or you can also put it in your signature links in forums...
offcourse google shows ur home page because "blue widget" suppose to be ur blog name (what i understand frm ur post). do one thing that might works create pages with more keyword frequency in title. like for example if you create a post (in wordpress) which has more keyword frequency in title than home page. it is likely that google show that page . but frequency should not be more than 3 and whole page name should be justified (according to SEO). cheers
There are actually two ways you can increase your search engine rankings for your inner pages. First would be to work out with the internal linking of your blog to give some weight to inner pages. Second would be the off-page seo, by gaining inbound links to those internal pages that you want to rank higher for. As in your example, you would want to get a linkback from another site by using the anchor text you desire that points to your inner page instead of the homepage. Tho with wordpress it happens often that the homepage ranks better than inner pages (especially when the post is new), with time it will get fixed, but not without your help.
Hmm thanks guys for all the help. Internal linking was the term i should have used. Thanks trapped for that info. I will trying putting the keywords more frequently in the title. Does put keywords in the main article help at all or it will simply link to homepage
Hmmm, you are talking about deeplinks right? Just submit it in deep link directories or just add it in your blog then submit your blog.
