I need to put up another website and I do not want it to get indexed. Is there a way I can keep this from happening?

Just ensure there are no links to it. Also, if you're really parranoid, you could add a robots.txt file that prevents all robots from indexing anything at all. Not sure if this will prevent your domain from being listed as obviously the robot would already know it exists.

robot.txt is the easiest way but you could also add a no index, no follow meta tag to each page header as an alternative/ as well. Most the major search engines will "obey" both of them
