How can I increase traffic on my site?

Well you have to do SEO for it. tats for sure. so specifically you need to create a lot of back links which in SEO terminology is"Back linking ". for that do the following
a) select appropriate keywords for your site
b)write blogs and articles and use those key words in them
c)publish those blogs and articles
d)Start book marking of those published urls which in SEO terminology is "Social Book marking"
once you do that you will see a healthy traffic coming

 

There are two major source of traffic - organic traffic (free but need time) & paid traffic (invest money - get traffic). If you questions about organic traffic - there are only one way - increase your keyword position and your traffic also will be increase.

Would also add List and Autoresponder Swap's, you might find you'd need to get around 300 subscribers to do that successfully

If you are talking about this websites "java4coders[.]com" in this thread then I would say you need to pay attention on your your on-page details first. I've observe that your site have not proper title. Use proper keywords in your title like "Java Programming Help", "Java Programming Tutorial", "Java Programming Guide" and so on. Also use meta keywords and meta description tags in your page. As content view I suggest you make step by step tutorial or example for your visitors.

Also make list of common Java errors and problem Java coders faces daily and give their solution also use proper title for that page like "Common Java Errors" or "Remove common java errors" something attractive like that and promote your site and especially attractive titled pages. Use following link building techniques.
- Directory Submission
- Social Bookmarking
- Article Submission
- Blogging
- Forums (Java forums in your case)

One more thing place contact page so visitors can contact you regarding new errors and problems which are not considered in your site. Also publish those problems with solution on your site once resolved.
