Hi, I am using public Wifi to connect to net, its quite hard to have a stable connection at the daytime. It has frequent disconnections. Is there any way to strengthen the WIFI signal? Currently using Broadcom 802.11 Multiband Network Adapter on Gateway laptop.
Get a USB WiFi dongle, a USB extension cable, and a wok - and point it at your neighbour. It works brilliantly. Ancient (but still relevant) low tech NZ wokery wizardry : http://www.usbwifi.orconhosting.net.nz/
If you're using the built in wifi on your laptop, then no - there's not much you can do. USB Wifi sticks are VERY cheap. And are a good thing to have in your bag as a backup. As vaibhavpagar suggested, have a look on DX.
I see, so i guess ill buy a usb wifi, and an antenna. Can you please explain how you will use aluminium foil for wifi signal?
you can check this out http://www.labnol.org/software/increase-wifi-signal-strength-with-aluminum/8064/. Actually there are so many hack using aluminium foil to boost your wifi signal. U need to do some homework using google.
hey man, I was connecting to my neighbour too sinch my current provider im having issues with, and the other night i was downloading right and i got about 30kb/s in firefox, not sure if you download too, but I started using IDM because firefox was a bit unstable, but GOD what a difference, in IDM i get 200 - 300kb/s , did you find a good wifi dongle?, because I might look for one too.
I am still searching for a good wifi dongle with antenna, i use IDM too, and . But my connection is still not satisfactory due to great distance from the hotspot.
I can go near the hotspot temporarily, but it won't be a permanent one, because i can't stay out too long. And there is no need to go near, when the connection reaches my home, just wanting it to speed up a bit from my place.
You can change the position of your wireless router in a central location or can change the internal settings.
