How can I increase my CTR on these sites?

    Hi,

I get pretty good hits on my site, generally well over 1000-2000 per day. However my click through rate is absolutely pathetic, somewhere around 0.01% or something.

Can anyone suggest how I could increase my CTR on the following sites

http://www.silvertails.net (in the news articles I have a fully blended adsense ad, would I be better making it stand out more. What else can I do?)
    http://www.mytipper.com

Thank you all for any help you can offer.

    Daniel

On silvertails try to put the ads where the season draw box currently is. The top of the page is the first a user sees, people should not have to look for your ads you should put it somewhere where they notice them.
On mytipper put an adsense "Banner (468 x 60)" (blended into the page) just above the "domain name generator::" header.

On the homepage. (You already have well-located ads on your forums)

    Hi Daniel,

Your site http://www.silvertails.net has a very busy homepage and lots of viewers just won't notice your ads....because viewers eyes won't ever focus on the ads with all that's offered on the page.

If I were you I'd put the ads in "hot spots" as mentioned above, but you may even want to look at reducing the amount of content (sections) on the page to give more focus to the ads your displaying.

    Hope things improve with CTR.

thanks good suggestion. Most visitors to my site use the forums and photo pages. I have asked them what they would click on and they have said that they would click on local ads rather than US ads so I am working towards building that

I think your ads placement is good. I don't know why your CTR is so low, maybe too much pictures.

Have you considered putting the ads inside the post and not under the post?
This may increase the CTR. Also you might want to blend the color of the ads to be similar to the post :)
