Tightly targeted keywords will convert better than more general ones. Different ads can affect conversions. But the main factor in conversions is your page and how well it sells.

There is a clear progression from search term to attractive ad to the landing page making the sale. If you sell batteries, bidding on "batteries" or "battery" may get lots of impressions but few clicks (it's too general) and those clicks will likely not convert.

But if I am searching for "battery for my Dell Inspiron laptop" and you bid on that keyword and you show me an ad that says you have batteries for Dell Inspiron and when I click the ad, you take me to the page selling that exact battery type and it says you will ship immediately and I'll have it within 24 hours, or other benefit, I'm much more likely to buy. If I land on the home page and make me search for it, I might not.

Long tail keywords, a good ad and the right landing page.

I agree with the good ads being a major factor.
    I'd try different ones.
I like to say as much as i can: "Fast shipping, have it in stock, all sizes, and most important: up to 70% off."
it's a lot to say in the small space they allow but you must be creative and try different things.
    good luck.

Yes u cud do it but keep in mind one thing that your search term shud have enough searches to trigger an ad if u r going to use "phrase" or [exact] match.
Otherwise u wud face problem and blame me that i guided u in such way.
