You assume he knows what any of that is. You gotta ask the new guys questions to get a feel of where they may be at. If you go up to an 80 year old guy that has been in the military all his life and tell him to move the mouse then open up internet explorer and enter a URL. What are the odds he knows what a mouse, internet explorer, or a URL is? Slim to none based on some recent statistics. Take that extra minute to help them even better

the basic thing: You can get some traffic by posting in related forums to your niche, and with a link in your singature of course. That will start bringing some traffic, little but some at least.
Here are a few suggestions : - Work on link building. This includes link submissions and link exchanges. This way your chances of getting high ranks in Search Engines increases though it may take time. - Write quality articles and submitting them in article directories with website signature. - Participate in forums. Reading and posting ( like all us ). Plus there are various other ways to market your website without spending anything ( of course you spend most of your time ).
