How can I help my site using posting in forums?

Hi,

I heard that if I write at forums and add link to my site it can help. However, on my Google toolbar I can see that internal pages of forum has zero PR so my question is –Is forum posting really helpful?

(I 'm aware that this is post in a forum so there is no need for smartass comments)

Forums posting doesn't only helps you in gaining PR to your site but it also helps you get some traffic.

Further, not all the pages are PR 0, some have PR, for instance [ http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=116641 ] this forum post have PR 4

 

Forums posting do help improving rankings and a source of traffic.

But if you want to get quality backlinks to have PR submit your site to directory, try blogging, and try to gain links from related sites.

 

I would recommend you to just put fresh content on your site and peoples will link to you organically, my suggestion keep your site updated with fresh/unique contants and put efforts in content instead of building links.

 

If your site has good content, other people will naturally put links to it on various forums (and other places) all over the internet. These naturally-acquired links are better than "planted" links you make yourself. So the answer is to improve your site's content.

Just take a look at other sites on DP from Google and you will they have backlinks coming from here.

 

if you had like 12,000 pr 0 backlinks from forums, would that help your rankings at all??

 

Yah, you wont get any PR juice.. but if you have have an interesting signature with a link, or an even more interesting "recent blog" next to your avatar it will bring some traffic...

 

DP Forum signatures definately help.. Put it this way forum signatures can't hurt.

 

Don't think forums including DP forum will made your site sooo popular. You ought use different ways and means to get popularize your website. Keep in mind that sometimes yo will get banned also!

Use legitimate methods to get good traffic. Have a nice anchor text for your site and place it in the bottom (signature) and also upload the feed of of your site in the recent blog category too..

 

I partially disagree..
If your site has nothing helpful or useful, then it won't help at all.. But, let's say your forum signature has a link about why people always call you the Referral King, and that link leads to a post about how your site was featured by Google Adsense as a Success Story - and the people that read the forum are interested in such things, it could help to make your site/blog more popular.. you know.. i'm just sayin..

 

with forum posts you get lot of things.
- introducing your site to all the people at forum
- traffic
- backlink

 

but at most forums the backlink doesn't really 'count' ..

 

Does they use NOFOLLOW attribute? I don't know about that.

 

How many post do you have,you have to stay here for a long time and post many before you gain something.

 

some forums and blog comments use rel="nofollow" on code, it tells bot not to follow (and count) that link.
