You can get traffic from social media site and other high rank site .you can also get traffic from forums
An engaging forum needs lot of human contribution. - Keep your forum navigation easy and make precise categories - Do not approve dull and useless threads - Strong moderation - Make your forums informative - Allow people to post their blogs in a separate section - Keep your signature limit low and increase it gradually so as to avoid spamming - You need to find some active forum members who can actively participate in discussion and provide solutions - Promote your forum on other forums by actively participating there - Encourage other people to join your forum through social networking sites. - Post articles on your forums and spread the link
you get traffic to your forum the same way you get traffic to any site: blog posts about the forum with link blog comments with link comments in other forums with link in signature. write an article about how awesome your forum is. have links to forum. publish everywhere.
forums take a lot more effort than other sites, especially at first. You have to make sure you're on every day to stir up some good conversation.
Fernando here, Every single user wants to join large forums for sharing and exchanging ideas and leave questions for other users to answer. Forums are brilliant, have made Internet history, but with no traffic to your forum; it will rapidly become just that... history. When you start your own forum, the possibility of having a lot of user interaction is big. You have spent months working on it, expected some traffic, but the problem is; there is no traffic at all. Lots of people, sharing interests, join the same communities and many Internet marketers capitalize on these forums because they can benefit just by joining them. Now you wonder; what went wrong? No members... you have checked. No one even signed to join your forum. So how can you generate traffic to your forum? First of all, you will want to make the forum looks inviting and welcoming. This can be done by implementing a clean, simple, warm and interesting theme. Use soft colors like orange, green and blue or even a light gray or white. Always start with a smaller forum. The fewer categories, the easier it is to fill the forum. Apply the ones that will attract the user's interests. Four or five subjects will be easy to manage and you do not need many members or posts to make it seem active and busy. Find two or three active and committed members who know the subject in the forum very well. These two or three dedicated members will make your forum look busy and others will join. You will of course be very active and familiar with the subject of your forum as well. Make at least five posts per day (from different people). After a couple of weeks you can even promote the most active member to a moderator. Although a moderator might not yet be needed (until you have at least 60 - 80 members) it will encourage the moderator to be more active. Another method, which may sound crazy, but will definitely increase the traffic; make fake users with different names and different details. Build threads about subjects that are related to your site. Then log on as the other fake user and reply to the post. Now when someone drops in to your site, they will be convinced that there is actually a community in your site and the user will start to register and post. Be aware of that you need to keep on track with their threads and posts so you will be able to reply with both your real and fake accounts which you have created. Anyway... the appearance of a large number of links to related content on your forum can help it be found by the Google bot. Also remember to put a link to your forum in your profile on online sites and in your Twitter account. These are some efficient ways for starting a forum, but of course there are many more tips and ideas about how to launch and maintain. There is way more to know and obviously many other things you can try.... here are a few more thoughts you can apply and which i hope will work for you: 1. Be active in other forums and add value to them. People will click your signature. 2. Offer incentives to users who do actively participate in your forum. 3. Add a competition. People are willing to do a lot for $5 to 10$. 4. Don't use admin as username or a fancy picture. Use a real picture and your name. 5. Your community should really like hanging out at your spot so don't be too strict with guidelines and rules. 6. Give the project a couple of years to develop. Input article body here...
This is probably the best idea. get a facebook page linked, a twitter, pay some people to make quality posts. Go to Google groups and message boards, CL sometimes helps and then there are other ideas but try those at first then you should be able to have a go ahead.
I own and admin a lot of forums. The startup is hard... here's how i get around depending on different cases -incentivize initial members (fake or real, give moderator access, give items...) -make a referral system that works -social networks work (create fan page(s), and accounts alike) -seo, a lot of it... (link wheels, backlinks, articles, videos, etc...) -press releases and let it out on the wild wild web you must remember to target these people first -bloggers of the same niche, hopefully they will blog about you -social network moguls, those with 1k friends or more -those who are active online an offline -
There are various good ideas are given above by the members and all are effective. You can make popular your forum by opting the below methods also - - Press Release Submission and Distribution - Article Submission and Distribution - Social Bookmarking - Social Networking - Forum Posting - Micro Blogging - Blog Posting - Blog Commenting - Classified Ad posting - Craigslist - Free posting on Advertising Forums etc. - And you can also go for the traditional way like as 1. Link Exchange with other theme base sites an 2. Directory Submission - Submit your site on the video posting site like as youtube and much more - Make a perfect squidoo lens for your site, work on that and move traffic to your site with some interesting videos displaying there. I am sure by opting these way, you will be able to get the required traffic on your forum and your forum would be popular.

since you have a good amount of members i would suggest the same thing inomcoke said. Also i would suggest you find something unique, since use the theme post2host why don't you provide some offer or discount and send an email to the registered members. I am sure the mail can increase some amount of activity in your site...
Well, so you average 60 daily log ins? How many people browse your content? It's inactive right? Increase the content flow - and interact with your current members.
Blog posting Social bookmarks Forum posting Squidoo, Hubpages and Ezine Comments on relevant sites Use only unique and interesting content. Apply these techniques and you will have 100 visitors or more in two weeks. I already achieve that goal. It is possible.
- Participate in similarly themed forums and include a link to your forum in your signature - Leave quality comments on similarly themed blogs, include link to your forum - Buy a few quality links/ads on popular forums with somewhat similar or related subject matter - PPC Just make sure your forum has a lot of active discussions so people will be able to participate once they actually get there.
Have an active team of moderators to run and manage the forum conversations. Minimize useless spammy threads and always keep active useful, informative, and maybe even controversial threads around. People don't want to hang around a dead forum.
