I'm wondering how I can get my site picked up by google quicker? It's a wordpress site, I've installed google sitemaps etc, but am getting zero traffic from google. How can I improve on that?

Although the above 2 points are good, they'll have no effect if nobody is searching for the keyphrases your site is targeting.

Have you done your keyword research? Are you targeting terms that people are searching for?

There are a good number of blog posts being sold on this forum. If you want your site indexed quicker (not guaranteed by any means) I would suggest purchasing a blog post on a PR6-PR7 blog. I have seen them go for about $30 - $40.

I think is waist of money? lol> because when you will be building links to your website in the future, well you want rank well dont you? you will get indexed then so why should you worry about indexing at all!!?? its waist of your brain energy, money and air..
By the way when I get bored sometimes just for fun I type in the google's serch box websites url a few times...sometimes it works website gets indexed like in a couple days..

The question was not how to improve rankings, but rather, how to get picked up quicker (i.e. indexed). Anyone will tell you, regardless of their experience, that obtaining a link from a site with high PR will help you get indexed faster.

Now I have to ask, and I really hope you are not selling your SEO expertise anywhere, but are you joking? Are you saying that the mystery of getting a site indexed can be solved by simply typing in the name of a website into the search box? The sad thing is that people will actually stumble upon this "theory" of yours and will end up posting dozens of threads about it. This is the second piece of bizarre advice that I have seen from you today. Your last theory was that a webmaster using the "nofollow" attribute would be penalized by Google. The damn indexing command originated at Google and was pitched to MSN and Yahoo in an effort to combat SPAM. Please, people really do read these threads and you are confusing them.

It took me over a month to get indexed by Google...it requires patience. You could speed the process up however if you do obtain a link from a site with high PR. The question is this...how much is your time worth?

lol> I love to argue with you dude..about that thing..I mean, how you call ridiculous, no I didnt mean PENALIZE by Google..lol> I will die here..no no no you not gonna get pentalize, but you just gonna let know google that you are not simple website user, you actually smart guy, I mean smart enough to manipulate with PR..You see in the spamy internet spots like SEO services and ect..I dont think that it would have any affect, but like in the spots where websites are virgins and they dont do any seo it may mean that you are smart guy, who MAY try to manipulate PR (Google doesnt want people manipulate PR)..I hope you know what I mean?
AND now about indexing just by typing in the googles search box your websites url..ya..lol it is really funny but I got indexed, without pointing any link to my site...MAYBE IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT...but I believe that if certain amount of people are looking for the particular website, but google doesnt have it indexed so does google actually is a good search engine if people cant find what they are looking for? Thats why I think Google may want to fix itself, by indexing that page. Well its just my STUPID theory..I do just for fun..well and if I am wrong you know what? I am not SCARED to Be Wrong...

But there is nothing wrong with using SEO and Google does not frown upon it. There are certain practices webmasters follow and it's done by everyone. It's called SEO. Now there are good ways and bad ways of doing it...but it's done by everyone. Simply adding a keyword to your title is considered SEO.

And for the record...on-page optimization (i.e. adding "nofollow", having proper tags, headers, etc) and manipulating PR (cloaking, re-directs) are two different things.

In the United States we have tax deductions which are allowed by the IRS. If I have kids and want to deduct their school expenses...I can! The IRS will not accuse me of tax fraud...these are all legit and made available to each and every taxpayer.

Here is another example that will help you distinguish between the two:

The word Optimize (SE"O") is defined: to make as effective, perfect, or useful as possible.

The word Manipulate is defined: to manage or influence skillfully, esp. in an unfair manner

    Do you see the difference?

Ok...fine..I am wrong lol> But before that what is seo??to make as effective, perfect, or useful as possible, but doesnt it includes link campaigns? So what are link campaigns? when you EXCHANGE, BUY links uch?? Does it looks to you natural? I mean do those websites link to you naturally, NO NO and No What does link represents to search engine? A vote that your website is somehow important and good enough that somebody naturally links to you?? And YOU doing link campaigns, its part of seo isnt? You are faking votes isnt manipulation? Its like pay people during the President elections vote for the particular person so he could get enough of fake votes to become president. Seo is very close to it especially some parts of it like link campaign..

With Blogs, I have found that getting a couple of incoming links from established sites (PR4+ generally) Will have the googlebot visiting pretty soon.

Don't just do that and forget about it - with a blog, I find that pinging a few sites when you update posts does help - especially to get your individual posts indexed.

As suggested, pay for a couple of blog posts to be done that include links to your site it will help. Also, in the beginning, post and ping as often as possible until you notice you are getting indexed. Once you get some content and the SE Spiders visit regularly, then it is time to "set" your posting frequency to be whatever you can handle - be it several posts/day or 1 post a week.

I think you need to read that SEO Book you are advertising. It's very clear to me that you are completely unaware of what SEO really is.

Here is a link to Wikipedia so that you can educate yourself before coming on this forum and giving people incorrect information:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_optimization

Notice how there is nothing in there about link campaigns...that has nothing to do with SEO. Now building links via quality content...that is another story.
