My domain name expired a year ago and due to some personal problems I was not able to renew it and now I find that my domain has been registered by some German site. When I tried to open the domain it forwarded me to the his German website.

Is there any way I can get my domain name back????

Not directly. You could ask him to purchase it back if he has contact info on his page, if not then you'll just have to decide on a new domain.

He probably won't reply right away, it could take hours, days, even weeks.

I doubt he will sell it or go through the trouble, unless you offered a decent amount.

Other than that, there is no way to get it back. If it was that important you could have set an auto-register payment for when the domain expired.

Just make another domain, I'm sure you could find a new one that's better

my friend says that you can have your domain back as long as you have the authentication code.

personal problems means that I was away for my higher studies thats why. and what authentication code. I cant loose this domain coz I worked very hard to get it a decent PageRank and appear in Google with decent rankings.

That's probably why the person bought it.

You have to realize there are people who study expiring domains and buy ones with decent page rank very quickly, sometimes within seconds of your domain expiring.

    Sorry mate

You aren't thinking you could make the domain redirect to your new site are you? Because that is impossible. You have no rights to the domain
