Hey guys, for some reason my proxy advertising for $1 thread was moved to freebies :/???

It has had over 120 replies however now they feel it must be moved to freebies, i am not sure why and i have received an infraction for this?

Again not sure why, i just want to be able to talk to an admin ask them why it has been moved and obviously if they can move it back and take away my infraction

Sorry about this thread usually i would not waste forums space and peoples time.

Thanks for anyone who can help.

I have had the same problem with my threads... even when posting services that included plans over $5. According to DP's new policy all sales under $5 belong in freebies.

To me this makes absolutely no sense... and is unhelpful to both sellers as well as people looking for services and/or freebies.

Anything under $5 now belongs to the freebies area. Hope this clears things up :)

Thank you for the reply, thats very helpful.
Well that is ridiculous, sounds like a stupid rule to me i think i shall start a thread in the suggestion section later asking peoples opinions on this. They may change it back if enough people dont like it.

Well when did this rule come in to place, just wondering whether my thread had been started before the rule came in to power, if so i should not of received the infraction.
Either way its just annoying as you stated it is very unhelpful to me, the freebies thread is a lot more active and there are alot more replies to smaller threads therefore if i do not bump up my thread nor if people do not reply my thread will move fastly to the back of the bunch.

Note to infraction people if you read this:

Firstly sorry for the wasted space on this post, however my suggestion is to add an email address or write up a reason as to why people are infractioned and why threads are moved. Not just 'it is in the wrong catergory' i understand time is probably of value to you guys, and it would take a while to write up explanations to each person however if not that give us an email address so we can ask you.

    Thanks codman, thanks forums.
    Will.

I think that is a very good idea. Perhaps you should make one of your options in the poll a suggestion for a new sub-forum: Items under $5, but not free.

Hey guys, well many of you may of seen my thread in the business section referring to my proxy advertising thread that i started on January the 14th in the services>advertising section of the forum.

Thread can be found here now:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=653345

It had been getting a lot of good feedback and i have been receiving alot of good business from the thread. However yesterday it was moved to the freebies section of the forums and an infraction was handed to me. For misuse of catergories.

I considered anything you sold to not be under freebies section under any circumstances however after posting my recent thread about the infraction found here:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=727923

I was informed that anything under $5 was to be posted in the freebies section. In my opinion i feel this is a bad decision as 'freebies' gives of the impression 'free stuff or services' nothing that you may have to splash a bit of cash at.
The problems i have with putting paid services or anything that you have to pay for under the 'freebies' sections are that:
1.People do not go to this section to buy things, under any circumstances.
    2. This section already is busy enough with threads for diggs and stumbles so anyone offering anything cheap has no way of getting much business through it.
    3. Threads like mine that were getting a stable flow of business through the advertising section will now have to either bump there thread or leave it to be sent to the back of the section as the freebies section is so busy constantly with people replying to free digg and stumble threads that threads like mine will never get seen.
currently whilst typing this there are 87 people viewing the freebies section which most people who have been here a while will no is low for anyday, where as the advertising section there are 17 people viewing and on average there are only about 15 people viewing at one given time in this section.

I don't see the need as to why the forum admins put this rule in order as the advertising section is not a section which is constantly spammed nor full of wasted threads. Where as the freebies section is, for people like myself offering a cheap reliable source of advertisement to the viewers of DP forums it gives us no chances, unless we spam/bump our own threads which in turn will put infractions on us anyway and after 10 infractions i believe you are banned.

Basically this is not a rant more like a protest/opinion sharing thread, i would like people to vote and share their views on this rule in place. Perhaps if we get enough people interested the rule can be disposed of.

Another suggestion by 'thecodman' was to create another sub section title '$5 and under' i think to be honest this is the best solution all around, i think it will also prove more helpful to myself the proxy advertising for $1 thread starter more useful than any other section of the buy, sell, trade section.

Thanks for your time and interest.

    Will.

IMHO, that makes more sense then charging things in freebies.

Try taking a soda the next time you go to the gas station & saying "anything under $5 is free" and see how far that gets you.

I agree that selling anything in the freebies section just doesnt make sense. If you are selling something how can it be free?

So now we have sales of $5 or less AND stumble/digg trades in the freebies section - Neither one of these is even remotely free.

I think the issue is iTrader trading for such cheap things... but if freebies can be stopped from iTrader, then a cheapies forum could also be barred from it.

    It would solve both problems...

Yes, I agree with you there. That is why I voted for having a new subsection. I understand that there is a problem with iTraders, but having members sell things in the freebies section is crazy.

I think if we can get enough people to vote for a sub section that they may just create one, what harm would it do?
If anything it would make everything better, i can not see any negatives to come from it?

    That IS the point...

They will not get rid of it because too many were offering cheap deals specifically for iTrader which ruined it for those actually making cheap deals. This means that they will not remove the rule... however, they may change it to something like a $5 & under board.

It seems the consensus here is pretty clear. And as was previously mentioned I can't think of any negatives.

I would be very interested to see some input from the admins and/or moderators on this topic.

As for the iTrader issue, if the mod's do not believe iTrader should be issued for small transactions then simply don't allow iTrader for transactions in the $5 and under section.

I agree with everyone especially the point that was made about itrader feedback for cheap goods, just totally get rid of it then.

I would love to see this sub section come in to place.

As has been stated previously this is a temporary solution put in place in order to help prevent itrader abuse. It will remain in place until additional sub forums are added or a permanent change in the rules has been put in place.

There's also an open thread where people can make BST suggestions:
