    Hmm - in my eyes every method (without bying traffic) can be grouped to external oder internal seo.
    You want: TRAFFIC
    You do: optimization - so easy.

    So what do you mean with: without seo?

    all of which are the opposite of free.

    Social networking is a free route - but proper networking, not spamming - making contact with people, explaining to them what your site is about. Likewise, telling people on blogs and forums in your niche about your site.

    For free:
    Try free article submissions. Some sites are too good and they will send you good amount of traffic.
    Social bookmarking is also good. Try yahoo answers.
    Try getting good content for your site and automatically people will link to you. This will lead to more exposure.

    If you don't want to do SEO you'll need to buy traffic from Direct Text Links or Google Adwords. Alternatively yoou could post articles on sites like http://www.ezinearticles.com but this also takes time.

    You could also consider advertising in the forums here for bloggers and pay them $1 per post

    You can get free traffic by posting on forums and leaving your signature behind. When you have hundreds of posts, the signature links add up. You don't have to worry about optimization or which keywords to use.
