How can I get blog visitors to submit their email address to me personally?

Basically, my client doesn't have an aweber, icontact, or getresponse account. They are asking me to have a simple form on the side of the homepage with an email field, name field, and a subscribe button. When the user clicks subscribe they want that users information to be sent to one of the owners personal email addresses so they can build a list manually. And the user then sees a nice "Thank You" type confirmation page.

Is this even possible?? Any recommendations on plugins I can use? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Aweber is $19 a month. Does everything you need. If they don't want to invest in that little amount then they probably are not someone who you can bill very easily. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense to jury rig a solution when the cost of the real solution is so low.

You can of course have the visitor subscribe to your RSS feed or you could use a popup plugin like most blog marketers do.

This is just one example: http://www.maxblogpress.com/plugins/mofa/

Then set up a Gmail account to forward the responses to wherever you want.

    Thanks for the quick response!

What I ended up doing is using a plugin called WP Email Capture: http://www.gospelrhys.co.uk/plugins/wordpress-plugins/wordpress-email-capture-plugin

It uses a double opt in where you can define everything in the Wordpress control panel. It stores all the names and emails in the wordpress database.

My client can log into the back end and see who has subscribed, and then from there export the emails to their favorite email program.
