how can i get adsense to show different ads?

i've been using adsense on my website for a while now, but i rarely get clicks, and i believe the reason is because the ads i get are really bland. my website is for penn state students, so i usually get ads for online colleges or penn state apparel shops. one time i was getting a video game ad, that had like an xbox on it. i don't know how i got that ad but i felt like if i could have more ads like that then my site would do much better

so is there anything i can do with adsense to get lets say some more ads about video games, concerts, football, pretty much anything that college students would be interested in

I have been looking into the as well.

Google run a AdWords / AdSense Premium Membership program.

This seems to allow one to customize ad untis to suite your site layout, plus drop the GoogleAds logo.

And it allow you to submit a search query to Google that will then pull back relevant Google Ads to display on your site.

    It sounds ideal.

But I can't figure out how to join. The critieria is supposed to be quite extreme. Around 1 mil visits / day(!). But I can't find any confirmation on this.

Let me know if you find anything further?

To block specific ads you can use the 'Competitive Ad Filter ' under the AdSense Setup tab. Just type in the url of the ad you want to block. It takes a couple of hours to come into effect.

I otherwise also noticed a link when I was signing into AdSense some time ago that read something like 'improve the relevance of your ads by ensuring your site can be navigated by our crawler'. But when I went back to look at the link later it had disappeared. This is perhaps also a problem on your site. If Google can't crawl your site properly it won't know what ads will be most relevant to each page.

Please let me know if you hear more from that member that know how to get specifc ads to appear.
